2023 REVIEW - fORMULA 4

Formula 4 has never been bigger than in 2023. This year I reported on youngdriversmonthly about 18 F4 racing series around the world. Good news, next year there will be even more as Saudi Arabia and Australia, among others, have launched their own Formula 4 series. In this review, we take a look back at all the Formula 4 championships and the outstanding drivers of 2023.

F4 UAE CHAMPIONSHIP

The first championship of the year was held in the United Arab Emirates, where many drivers and teams from Europe were preparing for their main season. The first three races of the season took place at the Dubai Autodrome. Ugo Ugochukwu took victory in the first race from pole position and immediately followed it up in the second race. Arvid Lindblad took his first victory from pole position in the third and final race.

The second and third rounds were held in Kuwait Motor Town, where James Wharton won two out of six races and finished second in a further three. Championship leader Ugochukwu also won two races in Kuwait. The remaining two races were won by Zachary David and Tuukka Taponen, who joined the championship fight with his first Formula 4 victory.

The fourth round then took place again at the Dubai Autodrome, where Tuukka Taponen took two pole positions and dominated all three races. The Finn took three wins and took the championship lead ahead of the final weekend.

The season finale took place at the Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi. After two victories in the first two races by Wharton and two second places by Taponen, the championship was decided in the third and final race between them. Immediately after the start of this decisive race, Wharton moved from pole position to the inside ahead of Taponen. After both went off the track on the starting lap, they collided on the way back and retired. This gave Wharton the championship title, while Ugochukwu won the race.

FORMULA WINTER SERIES

The newly created Formula Winter Series started its premiere season in February. Some German and Spanish F4 teams used the championship to prepare for the main season in Europe. Four weekends were organized by Gedlich Racing on spanish race tracks, consisting of two qualifiying sessions and two races at each round.

Kacper Sztuka was the dominant driver in the championship. The US Racing driver won five of the six races in which he took part, winning the title in superior fashion and skipping the last two races. At the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Matteo De Palo was the only one to beat the Pole on the race track. The final two races in Barcelona were won by US Racing driver Zachary David.

F4 ITALIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

The 2023 Italian F4 Championship once again featured exciting races and a fairytale twist in the battle for the title. Once again, Prema was the strongest team and secured the title in the team championship. However, there was one driver in particular who was able to break through the Italian dominance time and again.

The first round of four races was held on April 22-23 at the Imola Circuit. Due to too many registered riders for the capacity of the circuit, the starting field for the races was split up so that most riders contested three of the four races. Kacper Sztuka won the first race of the season before Prema took over and went on to win twelve races in a row. Ugo Ugochukwu, Nicola Lacorte and Arvid Lindbland were victorious in Imola.

On the second weekend in Misano, Tuukka Taponen set the pace with a win in the first race and Arvid Lindblad with two victories in the second and third races. At the Circuit Spa-Francorchamps, James Wharton was the fastest driver with two wins and Ugo Ugochukwu with one. On the fourth weekend in Monza, Arvid Lindblad set out to bring about a preliminary decision in the championship. The Red Bull Junior won all three races at the "Temple of Speed".

But then came the fifth weekend at the Circuit Paul Ricard. And this weekend marked the beginning of Kacper Sztuka's finest hour. Beaten twice in qualifying by Ugochukwu and Wharton, the Pole went on to win eight of the last nine races. Three victories in Le Castellet and three wins in Mugello put him back in contention for the championship title ahead of the season finale in Vallelunga.

The US Racing driver took all three pole positions at the Autodromo Vallelunga. After a third place in the first race and two further victories, Kacper Sztuka became champion in the world's strongest Formula 4 racing series. With two championships, 16 victories and 16 pole positions, he was the most successful Formula 4 driver of the year. In the end, he cannot only credit himself with the title win, as his rivals were not quite able to keep up in the second half of the season. Wharton began to weaken and was less and less frequently to be found on the podium after Spa. After a dominant first half of the season and three victories in Monza, Lindblad completely collapsed and never finished on the podium again after that. Only Ugo Ugochukwu showed a consistently strong season and especially earned the runner-up title on the last two weekends with four second places and one victory.

EURO 4 CHAMPIONSHIP

July finally saw the start of the newly created Euro 4 Championship organized by ACI Sport and WSK Promotion. Three races were held over three weekends. On the last weekend in Barcelona, double points were up for grabs in the championship.

On the first weekend in Mugello, Prema driver Ugo Ugochukwu won the first two races and secured the lead in the championship. The third race was won by his team-mate James Wharton.

On the second weekend in Monza, US Racing driver Kacper Sztuka set the tone. The Pole won the first and second races before retiring in the third race, making Arvid Lindblad, who finished both races in second place behind Sztuka and ultimately won the last one, the big winner of the weekend. The second race caused great confusion among the drivers and stewards due to an incorrectly displayed safety car board. The official result was later reset to before the incident.

The season finale at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya produced three winners. India's Akshay Bohra won the first race, Wharton secured victory in the second race and Ugo Ugochukwu secured the championship title by winning the third race. It marked the Americans first F4 championship title after racing in British F4, Italian F4, F4 UAE and Euro 4 over the last two years.

F4 SPANISH CHAMPIONSHIP

In the Spanish Formula 4, the battle for the title was wide open ahead of the season. Three races took place on each of seven weekends, five of which were in Spain. The season opener took place as part of the 24-hour race at Spa-Francorchamps. Brazilian F4 champion Pedro Clerot won the first two races of the year, while Matteo De Palo inherited victory in the third race from Rinicella, who was awarded a five-second penalty for overtaking off track.

The second race weekend at MotorLand Aragón produced three first-time winners when Enzo Deligny won the first race, Christian Ho the second and Théophile Naël the third. At the Circuito de Navarra, Naël went straight on to win the first and second races. The third and final race of the weekend was won by Valerio Rinicella, who finally also celebrated his first victory in the championship.

After the summer break at the end of September, Andrés Cárdenas and Théophile Naël were the two strongest drivers in Jerez. Campos driver Cárdenas took two pole positions and won the second race, while Saintéloc Racing driver Naël turned one pole position into two victories in the first and third races. Naël followed this up with two more wins in the first and second races in Estoril, extending his lead in the championship. Red Bull Junior Deligny secured his second win of the season in the last race. On the penultimate weekend at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, Valerio Rinicella in the first race and Christian Ho in the third took their second wins of the season. The winner of the second race of the weekend was once again Théophile Naël.

At the season finale in Barcelona, Naël secured the title with two more podium finishes. In the end, his eight race wins and 14 podium places spoke for themselves. The weekend was dominated by Campos driver Christian Ho, who secured the runner-up title with three race wins.

F4 US CHAMPIONSHIP

In the American F4 US Championship, 2023 was the last year with the old generation of F4 cars without halos. 18 races took place over six weekends. And once again, no US citizen became champion.

In the season opener at NOLA Motorsports Park, A14 Management athlete Michael Costello secured pole position for the weekend. Carl Bennett eventually won a chaotic first race of the year before Velocity RD driver Jimmie Lockhart took victories in the second and third races. It was to be his only three F4 US races of the year as he later turned his focus to the USF Pro Championships route. The second weekend at Road America brought the first two wins of the year for Canadian Patrick Woods-Toth after his Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport teammate Jesse Lacey took pole position for the weekend. Michael Costello inherited victory in the second race of the weekend after a 10-second time penalty for on-track winner Mossmann for a false start.

After qualifying had to be canceled due to adverse weather conditions, Michael Costello won the first race at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Augusto Soto-Schirripa took his first win of the season in the second race and Woods-Toth won the third and final race in Lexington. The fourth race weekend at New Jersey Motorsports Park saw a chaotic first race. Alex Berg crossed the finish line first but received a drive-through penalty, converted to a 30-second time penalty, for forcing another driver off the track. Woods-Toth finished second but incurred a 10-second penalty for a similar track infringement. Therefore, Titus Sherlock who finished third inherited the victory.

Canadian driver Alex Berg started the second and third races in Millville, New Jersey from pole position. He was beaten by Michael Costello in the second race before celebrating his first win of the season in the final race of the weekend. At Virginia International Raceway, Michael Costello took pole position for the weekend, but was immediately trumped by Augusto Soto-Schirripa, who celebrated his second and third wins of the year in the first and second races on his third race weekend. Another new face, Jesse Lacey, then prevailed in the third race. The Australian finally took his first race win after four previous podium finishes.

The season finale took place on November 3-4 at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas. Ariel Elkin, a driver who already had some experience and strong results in Europe, was at the start for this weekend only. With a fastest lap in the first race and a second place in the second race, the Israeli was able to make a name for himself. The first race was won by Crosslink Kiwi Motorsport driver Titus Sherlock, who celebrated his first on-track victory of the year, which secured him the runner-up spot in the championship. Augusto Soto-Schirripa took his fourth win of the season in the second race and had another fantastic weekend with two more podium finishes. His third place in the championship with only four out of six weekends contested is something to be proud of.

However, the title this season went to Canada. Patrick Woods-Toth ended the season with a victory in the last race. The Formula 4 rookie ultimately won four races and finished on the podium in a total of 14 out of 18 races.

BRITISH F4 CHAMPIONSHIP

Once again this year, British Formula 4 had by far the most races in a season. Three races were held on each of the ten weekends. The race for the championship was open for a long time until it was finally decided between William Macintyre and Louis Sharp.

At the season opener on the Donington Park Circuit, Louis Sharp won the first main race and the second reversed grid race. His Rodin Carlin team-mate Noah Lisle came out on top in the third race of the weekend. Two weeks later, the action continued at Brands Hatch on the Indy Circuit. James Higgins took pole positions for the first and third races, but was beaten by Japan's Kanato Le in race one. The reversed grid race two was won by Dion Gowda, before Higgins was able to clinch victory from pole position in the third race.

The first race of the third weekend at the Snetterton Circuit was not declared null and void due to the lack of laps completed in bad weather. The second race in the reversed grid format was won by South African driver Aqil Alibhai. Dion Gowda went on to take his first victory in a main race in race three. Hitech Grand Prix set the tone at the Thruxton Circuit at the beginning of June. James Piszcyk secured pole position and victory in the first race, while his team-mate Macintyre came from the front to win the third race. The second race was won by Noah Lisle.

Just two weeks later, the action resumed at Oulton Park. Once again, Kanato Le and James Higgins shared the victories in the two main races. Sonny Smith took his first win of the year in the reversed grid race two. Another week later, the teams and their drivers took to the grid at Silverstone.  Rodin Carlin driver Josh Irfan somewhat surprisingly won the first race, while his teammate Noah Lisle won the reversed grid race. The third and final race of the weekend was won by James Piszcyk.

After a month's summer break, the action resumed at the Croft Circuit at the end of July. Louis Sharp made an impressive return to the battle for the championship this weekend. He won the first and third races from pole position and set the fastest race lap in both races. Sonny Smith took his second win of the season in the reversed grid race.

The next stop was the Knockhill Racing Circuit in Fife, Scotland where William Macintyre hit back with a win in the first race. In the second race, Deagen Fairclough, who had been performing strongly all season, finally got his first win of the season. Dion Gowda won the third race from pole position. Four races took place on the penultimate weekend at Donington, as the one race at Snetterton that was not scored was made up. After Louis Sharp won the first race, Dion Gowda secured victory in the catch-up race. In the reversed grid race, Fairclough took his second win of the season and Gabriel Stilp claimed his first win in a main race in the final race of the weekend.

The season finale finally took place at Brands Hatch on the Grand Prix Circuit. Louis Sharp won the battle for the championship with another victory in the first race and a second place in the final race. Two third places were not enough for Macintyre. Josh Irfan won the final reversed grid race, while Deagen Fairclough celebrated his first win in a main race in the third race.

FRENCH F4 CHAMPIONSHIP

Enzo Peugeot may have secured victory at the Pau Grand Prix, but Evan Giltaire arguably claimed the more significant victories in French F4 by winning the championship title. Even though there were only four points between the two of them in the end, their lead over the rest of the field was still considerable at more than 100 points.

Giltaire opened the first weekend in Nogaro with a victory from pole position in race one. Pol López took victory in the first reversed grid race of the year before Kevin Foster, the 2022 Feed Racing champion, won the third and final race on the Easter weekend. In the second weekend at Magny-Cours, Giltaire again won the first race from pole position, but again failed to win the third race from pole position after receiving a 30-second penalty for causing a collision. Romain Andriolo inherited his victory. Adrien Closmenil won the second race in the reversed grid format.

The third round took place as part of the Pau Grand Prix. Just one week before the start of the event, it was announced that the French Formula 4 would be the main act and that its third race would be the official Pau Grand Prix. The actual Pau Grand Prix was supposed to be hosted by the Euroformula Open, but they were unable to meet the standards set by the city of Pau for an environmental friendly-fuel. The weekend marked the start of the title fight for Enzo Peugeot. The Frenchman won the first race and then went on to win the third race, the Pau Grand Prix. The reversed grid race two was won by the American Garrett Berry.

The title fight between Giltaire and Peugeot came to a head at Spa-Francorchamps. Giltaire took pole position for both main races and then won them impressively. Peugeot tried to limit the damage as much as possible by winning the reversed grid race two. In Misano, Peugeot was able to make up ground again with two wins in the main races. In addition, Berry took his second win of the season in the reversed grid race two. On the penultimate weekend in Lédenon, Peugeot then managed to retake the lead in the championship with two more victories, while Yani Stevenheydens won the second race in the reversed grid format.

The season finale at the Circuit Paul Ricard was then won by Evan Giltaire. The Frenchman won both the first and third races and was crowned champion in his Formula 4 rookie season. The Belgian Stevenheydens won the second race and took his second victory of the year.

F1 ACADEMY

Outside of the Formula 1 weekends and without live streaming of the races, the F1 Academy started its inaugural season on April 29 at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. Marta García won the first two main races and immediately made it clear who the favorite for the championship title is. Hamda Al Qubaisi won the first reversed grid race.

The second weekend took place at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo in Valencia. Hamda Al Qubaisi won the first race, while her rival Marta García celebrated her third victory in a main race in the third race. The reversed grid race two was won by Bianca Bustamante. The action continued two weeks later in Barcelona, where Emely De Heus won the first race, Amna Al Quabisi the second and Léna Bühler the third, marking the first win for all of them this year.

Hamda Al Qubaisi came out on top in Zandvoort with two victories in the first and third races. Carrie Schreiner won the second race of the weekend with a reversed grid. In Monza, Marta García struck back immediately with a victory in race one. Léna Bühler won the second race before Bianca Bustamante celebrated her first victory in a main race a day later in the third race.

After the Spaniard Nerea Martí celebrated her first victory of the year in the first race, García was able to make a first preliminary decision in the battle for the title with two further victories in the second and third races. With her victory in the opening race of the season finale in Austin, Texas, she finally sealed the championship win. Hamda Al Qubaisi won the last reversed grid race of the year, while Jessica Edgar celebrated her maiden victory in the third and final race of the season.

F4 JAPANESE CHAMPIONSHIP

In the Japanese Formula 4, it was once again Honda vs. Toyota this year. With Kazuhisa Urabe, only one non-junior of the two manufacturers managed to win a race. The season started at the beginning of May at the Fuji Speedway where the TGR-DC Racing School drivers Rikuto Kobayashi and Jin Nakamura were victorious.

On the second weekend at the Suzuka Circuit, the Honda Formula Dream Project team struck back immediately. Yusuke Mitsui won both races from pole position. Back in Oyama at the Fuji Speedway, Kobayashi took over the pace again and won both races. However, Mitsui was unimpressed and hit back with two race wins in the fourth round at Suzuka.

In September at Sportsland Sugo in Murata, Honda Formula Dream Project driver Yuto Nomura won his only race of the season. In the second race, Bionic Jack Racing driver Kazuhisa Urabe surprised everyone with his first and only win or podium finish in the championship. Kobayashi and Nakamura put themselves in perfect contention for the title against Mitsui with a win each in the penultimate round at Autopolis.

Nakamura opened the season finale in Motegi with a victory. Mitsui, who could only finish the race in tenth place, was thus already out of contention for the title. Rikuto Kobayashi finally prevailed in the last race of the year. His fifth win of the season was synonymous with the title win for the TGR-DC Racing School driver.

F4 BRAZILIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

The Brazilian F4 Championship began in April at the Interlagos Circuit in São Paulo. With a pole position and two victories in the first and third races of the weekend, Vinícius Tessaro showed early on that it would be difficult to get past him this year. The reversed grid race two was won by Nelson Neto.

The second weekend in July also took place in São Paulo. Tessaro picked up where he left off in April and took pole position in qualifying for both main races. However, the first race was won by Luan Lopes from TMG Racing. After Mateus Callejas' victory in the reversed grid race two, Cavaleiro Sports driver Tessaro secured his third win of the season in the third race of the weekend. At the Autódromo Velo Città in Mogi Guaçu, Matheus Comparatto then showed that he might still be a force to be reckoned with in the battle for the title. The Bassani Racing driver took two pole positions and won both main races. Tessaro took victory in the reversed grid race two this time.

Álvaro Cho celebrated his only victory of the season in the first race at the Autódromo Internacional Ayrton Senna in Goiânia. Comparatto secured victory in the reversed grid race two and Tessaro took his fifth win of the season so far in the third race. The penultimate round of the season then took place for the first time as part of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Brazil. Matheus Ferreira, who had previously only contested Formula 4 races in Europe, came to his home country for a weekend on this occasion. And it was worth it. The Alpine Junior won both main races. The reversed grid race two was won by Alexandre Machado.

The season finale took place again at the Interlagos Circuit in São Paulo in mid-December. Vinícius Tessaro almost secured the championship title with a victory in the first race. In the end, after a retirement in the second race, he was able to watch on TV in the pits as his title win was sealed. Comparatto only finished fourth, meaning that all hope for the Bassani rider was lost. The race was won by Lucca Zucchini. In addition, Rafaela Ferreira became the first woman in Brazilian F4 to finish third on the podium. Matheus Comparatto then won the final race of the year, securing himself the runner-up title.

F4 NACAM CHAMPIONSHIP

Two drivers in particular stood out in the Mexican NACAM Formula 4 Championship this year. Colombian Pedro Juan Moreno controlled the championship and could afford to skip the season finale at the Mexico GP. Eleven race wins and a total of 15 podium finishes from 18 races were enough to win the title early. Nevertheless, the young Mexican Cristian Cantú gave him a good fight for the title over long stretches.

The first race weekend from April 15-16 at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez brought Moreno two wins from the first two races, while Cantú won the third race. In an eventful first race in Querétaro, Marco Alquicira took the win before Cantú and Moreno won the second and third races.

From the third weekend onwards, Moreno stepped up the pace again. He won the next seven races in a row and took a big step towards the championship. Alquicira halted his run with a win in the second race of the second Querétaro weekend, before Cristian Cantú bounced back with a victory in the third race.

However, two more victories for Cantú in Puebla were not enough to prevent Moreno from winning the title early. With a win and two further podium finishes, the Colombian made everything clear on the penultimate weekend.

The season finale is almost traditionally held as part of the Formula 1 Grand Prix in Mexico. With two wins from two races, Cristian Cantú finished the season on a high as runner-up in the championship.

F4 CHINESE CHAMPIONSHIP

In China, motorsport events could finally take place again this year without corona precautions, cancellations and postponements. The Chinese Formula 4 started its season in May at the Zhuhai International Circuit. Ruiqi Liu, who also competed in Europe this year with US Racing, won two of the four races. Kaishun Liu won the second race, while Jiang Fukang secured victory in the final race.

The second weekend in Ningbo was dominated by Tiago Rodrigues. The driver from Macau won three of the four races in this round. Jing Zefeng took his only win of the year in the second race of the weekend. The third round was held on the new race track on Pingtan Island. Ruiqi Liu was back on the grid after an absence in the second round and won the fourth and final race of the weekend after two podium finishes. With two wins and two second places, Kaishun Liu was the most successful driver of the weekend. However, Tiago Rodrigues had nothing to hide with one win, one second place and two third places.

The fourth round of the championship returned to the Zhuhai Circuit. Tiago Rodrigues won two more races and extended his lead in the championship, while his main rival Kaishun Liu took victory in the third race. Xu Yingjie won the first race of the weekend.

The season finale took place at the Ningbo International Circuit in November, where Kaishun Liu was able to put further pressure on Rodrigues in the battle for the championship with two wins from the first two races. However, Tiago Rodrigues secured his championship title with a victory in the third race before Liu won the last race of the year and celebrated the runner-up title.

GB4 CHAMPIONSHIP

The second season of the GB4 championship in England this year was dominated by one driver in particular. Tom Mills won ten of the 17 races he took part in and finished on the podium a total of 14 times. He was able to skip the season finale at Donington Park, as his title win was already certain after the weekend at Brands Hatch.

The first race of the season was won by the American driver Jeremy Fairbairn at Oulton Park, while his team-mate Mills secured victory in the second race. Victory in the third race went to Fox Motorsport driver Liam McNeilly. After the first race at Silverstone had to be canceled due to bad weather, Mills and Elite Motorsport driver Harri Reynolds secured the victories in the second and third races. On the first weekend in Donington, Tom Mills was almost unstoppable. He won the first three of four races in this round. Liam McNeilly won the fourth and final race of the weekend.

On the fourth weekend at the Snetterton Circuit, Cooper Webster really came into his own for the first time. The Australian celebrated three fastest race laps, two pole positions and two race wins this weekend in England. Only Tom Mills spoiled his perfect weekend with a victory in the second race. At the end of July in Silverstone, his rivals were again unable to find a recipe against Tom Mills. He won both the first and second races from pole position. In the end, rain made a third race impossible.

In September, it was off to Brands Hatch where Tom Mills secured the title with his two victories in the first two races. The reversed grid race three was won by Kai Daryanani. The Indian took part in 70 Formula 4 races this year, making him the busiest driver of the season.

The season finale again took place at Donington Park. In the absence of newly crowned champion Mills, the final weekend was dominated by Cooper Webster. The Australian won all three races, setting the fastest race lap each time and starting from pole position twice.

F4 CEZ CHAMPIONSHIP

The F4 CEZ Championship was still called the ACCR F4 Championship at the start of the season before it was later certified as an official FIA championship for the Central European zone. After the season opener in Oschersleben had to be canceled, six weekends with two to three races each were held.

At the season opener at the Hungaroring, Ethan Ischer took two wins in two races and showed who to beat this season. James Egozi and PHM Racing had a one off appearance at the Red Bull Ring and dominated the weekend with two wins.

The third round at the Slovakia Ring was then a thing for Reno Francot. The Dutchman won both races before his Jenzer Motorsport team-mate Ethan Ischer celebrated another three race wins at the Autodrom Most. In Brno, the battle for the title was finally ignited when Reno Francot won the first race and Ethan Ischer the second.

Three races were then held again at the season finale in Balaton Park in Hungary. Ethan Ischer secured the championship title with two victories and Michael Sauter celebrated his first win of the season in the second race.

F4 DANISH CHAMPIONSHIP

The last edition of the championship as "FIA Formula 4" took place in Denmark this year. From the 2024 season, they will compete as the Nordic-4 Championship with the old F4 chassis generation, like they do in the United Kingdom with the GB4 Championship.

Rookie Mikkel Pedersen immediately attracted attention on the first race weekend in Padborg after finishing third in the first race and winning the next two. He was beaten by Theodor Jensen in the opening race.

The second and third weekends at the Swedish race tracks in Anderstorp and Karlskoga already showed who would be fighting for the title this year. Mikkel Pedersen won two of the five races, while his challenger Magnus Pedersen won the remaining three.

At Ring Djursland, Mathias Bjerre Jakobsen took his first of two wins of the season in race one. Magnus Pedersen won the second race and Mikkel Pedersen defended his championship lead with two more victories in races three and four. The second weekend at Padborg Park was dominated by returnee Theodor Jensen, who won all three races.

The season finale at the FDM Jyllandsringen in Silkeborg remained exciting right to the end. Magnus Pedersen won races one and three, while Mathias Bjerre Jakobsen won the second race. However, Mikkel Pedersen did everything right this weekend and saved his points lead to the finish line, enabling him to win the 2023 Danish Formula 4 Championship.

F4 SEA CHAMPIONSHIP

After a break of almost four years and getting a new organization, the F4 South East Asia Championship finally resumed at the end of October. The last champion in 2019 was Ireland's Lucca Allen.

The season began with three races at the Zhuzhou International Circuit in China, where Jack Beeton won both main races. However, Chinese F4 champion Tiago Rodrigues, who finished on the podium in all three races, took the lead in the championship for the time being. The reversed grid race two was won by Kevin Xiao.

After the non-championship round in Macau, which Arvid Lindblad won, the season came to an end at the end of November with two weekends in Sepang, Malaysia. Hadrien David dominated the first weekend and won all three races.

However, the Frenchman was then out of contention for the season finale, meaning that two more podium finishes in the last three races were enough for Jack Beeton to secure the championship title. After a victory for Rashid Al Dhaheri in the first race and a win for Nicolas Stati in the reversed grid race two, Doriane Pin managed to win the third and final race of the year. This also earned the French female driver the runner-up title in the championship.

F4 INDIAN CHAMPIONSHIP

With the inaugural season for Indian Formula 4 already announced for 2022 and ongoing adjustments to the calendar for 2023, the inaugural round of the F4 Championship took place from November 4-5. Akshay Bohra took victory in the opening race, while Cooper Webster won the other two of the three races at the Madras International Circuit.

On the second weekend, Webster secured another win in the first race before Shahan Ali Mohsin won the reversed grid race two and Dion Gowda won the third race on his only weekend in the championship. The third round had to be canceled completely due to Cyclone Michaung, which meant that the canceled races were spread over the last two weekends.

In the fourth round, five races were contested instead of the planned three. Cooper Webster won all three main races, while Shahan Ali Mohsin won another and Alex Sawer his first reversed grid race.

In the end, four races were held at the season finale. Australian Cooper Webster was not to be denied the championship title and won two more races. While Shahan Ali Mohsin won the fourth and final race, Rishon Rajeev secured the runner-up title by winning the second race.
